The international symposium "Contemporary Perspectives on Adolescent Sleep" was organized by the Youth Enhancement Service (YES) which is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from the Anhueser-Busch Foundation.

The mission of the Youth Enhancement Service is to promote and enhance the quality of life of today's youth. Our mission will be accomplished by the generation and delivery of specific, interrelated Programs with well-defined goals. These Programs are the following: YES International Symposia (presented annually) and YES World Wide Web Site (continuously available).

Our principal objective is to help promote a better quality-of-life for the youth of America. We recognize that "quality of life" is a very broad term with different interpretations; certainly, we do not intend to address the broad spectrum of meanings that can accrue to this term. Rather, we will focus on five specific aspects of the quality of life of today's youth in which we believe that our Programs can have a significant impact. These areas are the following: 1) Medical--which we define as Health and Well being, 2) Education--which we define as Educational Resources, 3) Academia--which we define as College Bound, 4) Work--which we define as Community Service; and 5) Personal Growth--which we define as Expanding Horizons.
