Follow-Up:

Yes, Chrissy, I have been experiencing something similar. My insides sometimes vibrate when I am awakened prematurely. My husband and a sleep technician have placed their hands on me during the vibrations and have confirmed that they are really happening and not just "in my head." Each episode does not last long (from mere seconds to at most 2 minutes). However, the frequency of episodes is anywhere from several times during the same nap to once in a couple months. I have experienced them for about 17 years. Sometimes these vibrations occur just as I begin to relax deeply before sleep but they usually occur as I'm waking up. I've noticed that physical movement or being completely aroused out of a drowsy state makes the vibrations go away. I am particularly susceptable to these episodes when I have been overdoing and am particulary tired. My mother and sister say that they experience them too. My mom says that B vitamins help hers. Interestingly, I was found deficient in B-1 and B-3. I am currently supplementing these but with no improvement thus far. With regard to the lack of ability to move during the night, this is perhaps sleep paralysis. It's been too long since I studied this phenomenon to educate you on it but use that term to research it on a reputable web site. I too have experienced sleep paralysis in the distant past. I don't recall there being any danger to one's health or well-being necessarily connected with it. For your info., I have health problems that could be at the root of the problem (Diabetes II, Hypothyroidism, Sleep Apnea, High Cholestrol, and so-called tired adrenals). I do hope that you get to the bottom of this so you can get a good night's sleep and so that you will not have to worry any further about it's implications. Sincerely, Cat
