Follow-Up:
Basicaly its like this. xanax is a relaxant called a benzodiazopine. It has the same depresion affect to calm people down similar to alchohol or marajuna. Unlike other benzo's it is a short acting one, and is usualy out of the system in 3 hours. just long enough to head off an attack. It is not a daily drug, it is a take it when you need it, or believe you will need it drug. The only downside is that it has a minor chance for addiction, due to the way it affects your body. If this isn't a good option for you Paxil CR is a daily pill, similar to an anitdepresent, that is the only one FDA aproved for the treatment of anxiety/panic attacks. Also, many people believe that meds should also be used in conjunction with a psychotherapist to help the panic attacks end all together. It is very curable. Also some pyshical problems such as hyper-thyroid dissorder can cause such attacks and you might want to get some routine bloodwork done.
