Sleep paralysis is that...you cannot move...PERIOD. Yes you can manage to move a finger or a toe or maybe your foot but it's straining. I had an SP episode just this morning. I looked at my boardshorts laying on the carpet and they ressembled a goat face. Anyway, I'm struggling to get out of the SP...it probably lasted 5 minutes...and I managed to make a faint scream like "ohhhh, ohhhh" and after a minute, I got out of it. I remembered myself to check the shorts to see if they looked like a goat face. So I stand up and look at them...and yes...they ressembled a goat face. So my sight was real-time, I just couldn't move. Too bad I picked them up before I thought: "Hey, let me take a picture of it fo future reference" I've been suffering from this for 20 years...and I just found out last week that it was called Sleep Paralysis. My mother used to have it also and last time I went home (4 months ago), I slept on her bed and had an SP episode at around midnight. I managed to say really softly: "Moooom, waaake me upppp...I can't waaake upppp" and it was so freaky because I could hear myself say that while being totally helpless. She woke up and started shaking me and wispering my name...it took like 3 minutes to wake me up. She refered to it as "you were having a nightmare", but she knew that I've had that since I was little. It was freaky because I could feel her hands shaking me but I didn't feel my skin...I just felt the shake and her hands...really weird. Anyway, off topic from this, she died a month later. :( If you want, you can write me and we can share experiences. Like I said, I just found out the name of this last week on a radio show...people were calling to talk about that. I felt so relieved to finally know what it was after so long.
