Follow-Up:
I had this happen to me. It felt like I was in a plain crash and had my head slammed against the ground upon impact. It was so loud and so real it scared me very much. Sometimes I see flashes light with the bang. Other just here it right before sleep. This has happened since childhood. I am now 40.
