I am convinced that this salty/bitter taste in the mouth is a result of a virus. Most people I have spoken to on the net have had a virus just before the taste comes on .... Usually it's a virus that makes one dreadfully tired. I am in New Zealand and there are people all over the world with this probelm , and virus's go around the world with winter?? There is some information I rec'ved from a Doctor Bartoshuk in the States saying that a virus can attack a brain (Taste) Cell and cause a phantom taste in your mouth and it may or may not heal up by itself. I got my salty taste in March this year and it has FINALLY gone away !(This is Oct) Look up Phantom Tastes on the net at www.tastelab.org. All the best. Marilyn
