Follow-Up:
I have also had this condition since 1996. No doctor seems to take me very seriously. I have seen an ear, eyes and throat specialist, my dentist, my family doctor and a skin specialist (who wouldn't even look at my tongue). There is very little to see on my tongue. However, I have discovered some relief by avoiding abscorbic acid. It is in soda, toothpaste, fruit (bananas bother me less, so that is the only fruit I eat), and most any drink that is bottled. I use Metadent toothpaste also. It has some Vitamin C (absorbic acid), but less than the other toothpastes. I chew Trident sugarless gum and it gives me lots of relief, but is not very ladylike. Ladylike has gone down the tubes. I was diagnosed with TYPE 2 diabetes around the same time. It may have something to do with it. Good luck!
