Mari, I was treated twice for TMJD - both times by supposed experts. Neither time did I get relief. When I had surgery on a part of the lingual nerve (branch of trigeminal), the surgeon said that he found that the bone had splintered and was pressing on the nerve. He said that when he corrected the problem, the nerve "pinked up". Unfortunately, I did not get relief from that operation. I hate to sound so pessimistic, but just thought you should know my experiences. I will end on something positive that happened. One TMJD dentist recommended that I go to a myotherapist.The other sent me to a physical therapist. Both of those experiences helped my sore muscles, if not my burning tongue. Good luck!
