Follow-Up:
I had throat surgery about 2 years ago and as soon as that was over, I began having these white sores on the side of my tongue. I thought it was from where they clamped my tongue down because the first two were exactly opposite. The surgeon brushed this off as something from my system, not anything connected with the surgery. She suggested biopsies but I decided not to let her have another go around. (I am 54 yrs. old and have never had these until post-surgery!). They are the most miserable, painful, little mood-downers ever! Can't talk well...teeth rub against them. Have to be careful of temperature of liquids and also, spicy foods. They last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. Sometimes when I think one is on the mend, another will pop up on the other side. They go from the white blister to crater-like ulcers in the tongue. My surgery was not a success.....negligence has resulted in more prolonged problems and surgeries. Therefore, anxiety and stress creep in more and more. That's when I seem to develop these creepy little critters and so, I suspect a link between extreme stress which must override the body's usual immune system. I have no solution....I usually just suffer (and that should be SUFFER) through it and hope it will go away sooner this time than the last. I have tried all the OTC meds for canker sores, etc., and all the rinses. I have resorted to salt water rinses and they do help some. But, the only thing that I have found to do, without resorting to all kinds of physicians, is just to absolutely get my mind off the stressful situation. Not easy, doesn't work fast, but all I can come up with for this. Hope this helps any of you in any way.
