Follow-Up:
First, did your brother get the results? He's 19 and the Dr.-patient relationship is priviledged. I am 51 and began having seizures at 19. It was scary for me and my family. I've been on meds ever since and have had no seizures now for 9 years. Anyway, enough of me...thing is many seizures are ideopathic ie: no one knows what causes them, including childhood accidents such as your brothers. The thing to do is get after the Docs if he's still seizing...he may need different medication and as hard as it is, sometimes it takes awhile to find the right seizure meds. Believe me tho', there are tons of them. Also, has your brother or your family been under stress and is he one to keep his feelings to himself? That was part of my problem. When does he have his seizures? Has he eaten? Partied too much? Not eating, not sleeping and stress will definately bring on a seizure to someone who may be prone to them, as I am. Until he gets better (which I think he will once the right meds are given), don't be afraid and let him and your Mom know you're there for him. Seizures are scary and the thought of having another is terrible but they can be kept under control and all of you can live normally. Please write if you have more questions. Sincerely, Cathy Bacon
