Follow-Up:

I have had BMS for over 6 years. Mine started after dental work. I was diagnosed at Indiana University Dental School in Indianapolis. My mouth has gotten so much better over the years. I tried klonopin and a tobasco rinse which both helped. I started bio-identical hormones 1 year ago. This has been wonderful for my mouth. I take estrogen in capsule form and progesterone in cream form. My mouth is almost back to normal. There are times I don't have ANY pain. I can tweek my progesterone during the month when my hormone levels are the lowest. My hormones are compounded for my specific needs and are like the hormones I had in my body in my 20's. My doctor was a little reluctant to prescribe these for me, but she is thrilled with the results. They think BMS is hormonal and strikes women in or after menopause. I also use biotene toothpaste. Regular toothpaste just burns and burns. Good luck to all who are aflicted. Don't give up. I have moved to Alabama from Indiana and have found a wonderful oral pathologist here too.
