Hi Martina, I didn't realize your posting was so old. I too, have the same syndrome but mine is because I had head and neck cancer, had major surgery to mouth and tongue stage 4 cancer. I beat the odds and went into remission only to have it metastasize to my liver about a year later. I'm on my 5th round of chemo. I am sure that my immune system is so depressed that it leaves me open for all kinds of infections. I have no saliva because the radiation burned my saliva glands so I'm constantly drinking water and rinsing my mouth 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp baking soda to a quart of water, 4 times a day.They put me on oral nystatin suspension, swish,gargle,swallow 4x day and also magic mouth wash maalox, lidocaine and benydryl. I have candida yeast infection in my mouth constantly, I finally told the oncologist that the liquid nystation does very little for me and now they put me right on diflucan and it clears it up faster as long as I don't let it get ahead of me. They also have salivart which is in a spray can that sprays your mouth with a liquid that helps a little. I find that the rising with, water,salt and bak.soda helps a lot if I do it faithfully 4x a day and I make a fresh solution every day and use sea salt which you can buy in most grocery stores and natural food stores. People don't understand the pain you are in because you can't eat, its difficult to talk. I take tons of medication because beside cancer I also have emphysema. when you had the biopsy did you test positive for candida? My throat actually swells up sometimes and I take liquid benydryl along with other medication. I don't even know if you will get this because of such a time lapse; but I hope to hear from you.
