Cramp Night time leg cramp Some experts now believe that an incorrect balance in the body of sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium triggers Nocturnal Cramp. This type of cramp is most common in the over forties, due in my opinion to a lack minerals in the diet. To alleviate nocturnal cramp take the following: Live Bio yoghurt for calcium Magnesium supplement Potassium supplement or almonds and fish Reasonable amount of complex carbohydrates Drink water Cut down on sodium (salt) intake. Cut down on white wine, tea and coffee with your evening meal if you have nocturnal cramps. Note If the cramp or spasm persists for more than a few days so that it becomes debilitating, if there’s a swelling, bruising or bleeding around the area, or is accompanied by a fever, see your doctor. Calf cramps whilst walking are symptoms of Intermittent Claudication, a type of circulatory problem, if so see your doctor. I have had several people adopt the above remedy and they all said it cured their cramp.
