Follow-Up:
Well, well, well! I have finally found other people who share this problem. Mine began around Thanksgiving 2004. I flew to Atlanta and of course blamed the severely burning and chapped lips on the drying airplane air. NOT! A condition had established itself. From that time forward I have been suffering with burning, chapped lips and I don't know why. I also changed toothpastes because as soon as my lips become dry they crack and I get canker sores! It is a living hell. I found a toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) its called "Biotene" its a toothpaste for dry mouth. So you would think it should help, not the case.I have changed lipsticks suspecting a lipstick allergy, nothing. I have used carmex, balmex, a&d ointment, vaseline, burt's bees, bag balm (for cows utters)pure vitamin E oil nothing works. I even have a close friend in the pharmaceutical industry who gave me pure medicinal lanolin, still nothing. I am at my wits end. Right now I have just been through 2 weeks of chapped lips, & canker sores and they are gone, but my lips are terribly dry, and I am afraid of another outbreak. I am going to my PCP on 5/10 and will let you know what she suggests. Someone told me it could be a lipstick allergy, but its only my upper lip that gets chapped. If anyone knows of any really good treatments, please let me know. Bernadine :~) !!
