Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to the Eighteenth Annual Meeting of The Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR) to be held July 13-15, 2006 at the Delta Québec Hotel in historic Québec City, Canada. This time of year is ideal for an extended visit to this region – there are many attractions for individual travelers and families alike! The program promises to be an exciting one.

This year’s program committee, chaired by Erin Michalak, PhD and George Brainard, PhD, is proposing an exciting scientific agenda consisting of one poster session, two oral presentation sessions (open contributions) and two plenary sessions. In the first plenary session, distinguished invited speakers will review the rapidly developing field of circadian phototransduction and its relationship to light therapy.  In the second plenary session, SLTBR member David Harper, PhD and other speakers will provide a timely overview of issues concerning Clocks and Dementia. Marc Hebert, PhD, serving as local coordinator, will coordinate an exciting program of social events for the meeting locally.

SLTBR is a not-for-profit international organization founded in 1988, dedicated to fostering research, professional development and clinical applications in the fields of light therapy and biological rhythms. Members of the SLTBR have research and clinical interests in the healthy use of environmental lighting and in conditions related to light and biological rhythms including seasonal affective disorder (SAD), jet lag, shift work, sleep disorders, eating disorders, nonseasonal depression, bipolar disorder, and premenstrual syndrome. They study and use treatments including light therapy, chronotherapy, melatonin, serotonergic medications, and others. The corporate members of the SLTBR develop and market devices for the scientific measurement and the therapeutic use of light.

Additional meeting information, including registration and abstract submission guidelines, can be found at www.sltbr.org; questions can be emailed to sltbrinfo@aol.com.

We look forward to meeting you in Québec.
